Israel

The focus on Israel at Solomon Schechter Day School begins immediately as students enter the School, as they learn about the land, people, and history of our Jewish homeland. Throughout their years at Schechter, they are exposed to Israeli culture as they celebrate the holidays, and form relationships with Israeli students through the use of technology and student visits.

The study of Israel culminates in 8th grade as students journey to Israel together as a community with their teachers to experience first-hand the land and its people. Throughout their time at Schechter, students build a sense of pride and connection to their Jewish homeland.

Our Community at Schechter
Our community here at Schechter is created by our connection to each other and to Judaism. At Schechter, we do not have all the same viewpoints or opinions about how to live life, practice Judaism, or affiliate politically. But community is not about sharing the exact same perspective as everyone else. Community is about having a safe environment in which everyone is able to share his or her own ideas without the fear that they will be judged or ridiculed.
